Objectives

Programme

1. Textile materials: Natural and synthetic textile fibres and their properties.

2. Yarn production: Materials and equipment available for producing the various types of yarn. Spinning, opening, cleaning, carding, twist, drawing, blending, imparting order, reducing the unevenness of yarn mass, attenuation (draft), yarn formation, handling material. Ring spinning, post-spinning, open end spinning, different spinning techniques (ring spun yarns, rotor spun yarns, air-jet spun yarns, friction spun yarns, wrap spun yarns).

3. Thread production: Thread construction; Characteristics of sewing threads; Thread-production methods’ types of thread package.

4. Woven fabric production: Preparation; Winding; Warping; Slashing (warp sizing); Drawing-in and tying-in; The fundamental of fabric structure. Woven fabric design; Shuttleless weaving systems.

5. Knitted fabric production: Weft knitting: yarn delivery systems on circular and flat knitting machines. Warp knitted fabric production.

6. Non-woven fabric production: Formation of dry, wet, spun laid and other types of non-wovens

7. Clothing technologies

The main goal of this subject is to introduce equipment and technologies, which are commonly used in the industrial practice of textile production. Fundamental knowledge on spinning, weaving, knitting, braiding, outfitting and some other particular processing technologies is discussed during this subject. Additionally the machines and basic equipment usually used for production of textile materials are introduced as well.
