Objectives
· Definition and forms of energy, units, classifications.
· Energy and matter, energy conversion forms, efficiencies, energy quality, degradation, exergy.
· Conventional energy sources, energy conversion technologies, conventional and non-conventional coal, oil, natural gas resources.
· Basics knowledge about the power plants, thermal efficiency, thermodynamics of power plants, Carnot and Rankine-Clausius cycles, increase of efficiencies, CHP, combined cycles, water as heat carrier.
· Environmental aspects of energy production, life cycle evaluation, EROEI, flue gas air, water, soil and noise.
· Present and future of conventional and non-conventional forms of fossile energy carriers, shale oil and gas, clean coal technologies.
· Renewable energy sources and energy production technologies, wind, sun, water, geothermal, biomass energy, economy and environmental characteristics.
· Nuclear energy production forms, possibilities and future, fission based and fusion based power plants, positive and negative characteristics, radwaste and disaster problems, future technologies.
· Fuel cells, hydrogen, electric cars, storage and transportation of large amount of energy.
· World, Europe and Hungary energy statistics, the future.
