Objectives
The basics of hygiene, epidemiology and microbiology; microbes with human hygienic importance: bacteria, viruses, prions, protozoa and fungi; the epidemiology of infectious diseases; classification of diseases, types and stages of infectious diseases; pathogenicity and virulence of microbes: exotoxins, endotoxins, extracellular enzymes; immunity against microbial infections: innate and acquired factors of host defense; direct and indirect diagnostic laboratory methods; antimicrobial chemotherapy: effect of different agents and microbial resistance; methods preventing infectious diseases and epidemics.
