- Digital image capturing:
Fundamentals of digital cameras (objectives, sensors) and concepts (exposition time, focal length, depth of field) in practice.
- Digital image and video coding I.
Bitrate reduction methods. Examining coding parameters and image quality.
- Digital image and video coding II.
MPEG coding (movement prediction, layers, macroblocks). CBR and VBR coding.
- Studio technics
Main concepts (source, loudness, frequency-, dynamic range), studio fundamentals, audio control (technics, effects, tone/bass/tremble control.
- IP streaming
IP video streaming technics (IPTV, Internet TV) and media servers.
- Media creation
Home work. Short movie production (video editing, effects, animations, titles).
- GSM radio transmission
Practical analysis of GSM systems based on measurements: logical and physical channels, processes.
- 4G radio interace
Simulation based analysis of OFDM signals used in 4G radio interfaces: modulation and coding techniques, frame structure, performance.
- Wi-Fi (802.11) transmission
Measurement of WiFi network coverage, transmission quality, capacity, interference distortions in real environment.
- Network monitoring center
Analysis of real network monitoring center: architecture, functionalities.

The aim of this laboratory course is to extend the knowledge learnt in Mobile Communication Systems and Multimedia Technologies and Systems lectures and improve practical skills. Technical methods and solutions for mobile and media communication systems are studied in this course.

Oktatási módszertan
The 4×45 min measurements are performed in groups of 2-3 students.
Each occasion starts with a test based on the syllabus of the laboratory measurement. At the end of each measurement a report must be submitted.
