Programme
Engineering Management (EM) situations and solution
- Aims and functions of EM. Roles of electrical and computer engineers in the information society. Structure and economic role of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). Business priorities, business value generation.
- Definition, characteristics and components of management.
- Management corporate IT, communications engineering and business functions. Operative and strategic management tasks.
- Principles, models and procedures of EM in the field of information transmission and processing.
- Techno-economic modelling, optimization.
- Management tasks in network planning, location, control, distribution, scheduling and resource allocation.
- Statistic and heuristic procedures in the preparation of techno-economic decisions.
Innovation-management
- Areas, tools and institutions of innovation-management, forms of promotion of innovation.
- Future oriented technology forecast, recognition of technological breakthrough, management of changing generation.
- Procedure, institutions and influence of standardization on the markets of technology. Relationship among innovation, competiton and standardization.
- Intellectual property rights in the innovation procedure: protection of technical works, works of authors, databases, rights of neighbours, trademarks.
- Steps in development of technology/product, procedure of market admission, methods of development marketing
- Roles of ICT in development product/business, its contribution to value genaration.
- Corporate culture, corporate behaviour in innovative organizations.
To get acquainted with the methods of technology- and innovation management, the typical engineering management roles, tools and situations, the market entrance and acceptance of new products and technologies and to overview the product and technology development and further innovation tasks, to recognize the roles of professional preparedness, knowledge, knowledge transfer and orientation in the research, development, design and organization. The included realistic examples help to start the first successful steps in your career.

General rules
Requirements:
a. During semester: 2 midterms of the maximum score of 30 - 30.
Condition of passing the subject and receiving term mark: passing each midterm of at least 10 points.
b. During exam term: no exams.
c. No exams during semester.
Additional possibilities:
Any one of the
midterms can be replaced (improved) during both the semester and the week of
replacements, but only one of them can be replaced (improved). To replace
(improve) a midterm during the week of replacements students have to register for a
“signature replacing exam” in Neptun system and pay extra service fee. The
conditions (including the subject) of the replacing (improving) midterms are
the same as the ones of the ordinary midterms. The result of the improving
midterm overwrites the one of the improved midterm.
