Objectives
Classification of element analysis methods and performances. Basic principles of atomic spectroscopic methods. Radiation sources and atom sources of analytical atomic spectroscopy. Characteristics and comparison of the different sources. Main processes taking place in sources. Emission methods of atomic spectroscopy: flame photometry, arc and spark methods, ICP-OES and GD-OES spectrometry. Atomic absorption methods: flame atomic absorption, graphite furnace atomic absorption. Cold vapor and hydride methods. Mass spectrometric methods: ICP-MS, GD-MS. Development and optimization of analytical methods. Methods and instrumentation of sample preparation.
